You fall sick or have an accident during your trip.
Your baggage, personal effects or travel documents are stolen; your credit card is used fraudulently; your baggage is lost or delayed during your trip.
You have to compensate others if you break something or hurt someone negligently.
You have to cancel or shorten your trip for an emergency, but cannot get a refund or extra cost is incurred.

    If due to delay completely beyond the Insured Person’s control and not party or solely due to the fault of the Insured Person and/or his/her family, the journey cannot be completed during the period of insurance stated in the schedule of insurance, the period of insurance shall automatically be extended without any additional premium for such extension up to the Insured Person’s arrival to his/her final destination but in any event subject to a maximum of 10 days from the expiry date of the period of insurance stated in the schedule of insurance.

    Can a person aged below 18 be insured alone in the insurance policy?

    People aged below 18 can be insured alone provided that they have obtained consent from their parent(s) or guardian who is also the applicant (i.e. Policyholder) of the travel insurance.

    What is the difference between an applicant, an Insured Person, and a beneficiary?

    An applicant (i.e. Policyholder) means the person named as the certificate holder in the certificate of insurance, while an Insured Person refers to any person named as the Insured Person in the certificate of insurance and whose interests are protected by the insurance policy. A beneficiary is a person who has the right to receive the benefits of the insurance policy upon the death of the Insured Person.

    If I have not received any medical treatment during my journey, can I still make a claim for the follow-up medical expenses after returning to Hong Kong?

    You are eligible to claim follow-up medical expenses within 90 days after returning to Hong Kong provided that you have received medical treatment for the same sickness or injury during your journey. In case of emergency, if you are unable to consult a doctor on the way back to Hong Kong, such as having a sickness or an injury at the airport or on the plane, you should provide relevant evidence (e.g. proofs from the airline, tour escort, etc.) for special consideration.

    My journey will start from Hong Kong and include a number of destinations. Will I be insured if I take transit via Hong Kong?

    If you are only taking transit at Hong Kong International Airport and do not complete the immigration arrival clearance procedures, the travel insurance is still valid. However, your journey will be regarded as finished upon your entry into the territory of Hong Kong, and your policy will be terminated.

    If I had an accident on the way to the airport before commencing the journey, would I be covered?

    Except for Personal Accident benefit which cover accidental death or disablement within 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure time, all other benefits will be effective only upon commencement of the period of insurance or after completing all departure procedures at the place of origin, whichever is later.

    If I am already covered by a life insurance plan, do I need to apply for any travel insurance?

    Yes, travel insurance is designed for people going abroad as a visitor or on business trip. The coverage scope is quite different from a life insurance plan.

Common Exclusions

General Exclusions Applicable to All Sections

  1. War
  2. Government acts
  3. Nuclear hazards
  4. Lack of reasonable care and attention
  5. Racing (other than on foot), motor sports or aviation (other than as a fare-paying passenger in aircraft of passengers by air)
  6. Activities engaging in sports or games in a professional capacity
  7. Self-indicted injury or illness
  8. Alcoholism or drug abuse
  9. Pre-existing medical conditions
  10. Venereal disease, AIDS or AIDS related complex
  11. Pregnancy, miscarriage of child birth and all complications thereof

Cancellation (Applicable to Annual Cover Only)

We may cancel this Policy by sending 30 days notice by registered letter to the Insured at his/her last known address and, in such event, the Insured shall become entitled to the return of a proportionate part of the premium corresponding to the unexpired portion of the period of insurance.

The Insured may also cancel the Policy by sending 30 days written notice to Us. We shall then refund (provided no claim has arisen during the current period of insurance) the unexpired portion of premium of the period of insurance to the Insured subject to a minimum premium of 50% of the annual premium paid.

Refund Policy

If the Insured makes his own request with us to cancel the policy, we will deduct the following administrative costs in advance, and then refund the unexpired insurance premium.
